My passion for teaching started when I was a teenager, I used to teach swimming and lifesaving at local clubs and decided I wanted to make that my career. I studied teaching at Cumbria University. Whilst there I was able to experience a range of school settings from village to inner city. Each of these experiences gave me a new insight into teaching but it was my final placement, at Sheringham, which really made the biggest impact.

I am now in my 5th year at Sheringham Primary School and I am so grateful for the opportunities and experiences which have been offered to me. As a school, and now a trust, Sheringham never lets me get bored or complacent in my role, always offering new challenges and experiences.

As a class teacher, I have been able to work with and learn from a range of experienced and senior teachers through various partnerships. Sheringham has always encouraged me to try new roles offering me the opportunity to teach in both Key Stage 1 and 2. This has helped me to develop as a teacher and gain confidence across both the curriculum and across Key Stages.

As well as being a class teacher, I have been involved in wider school responsibilities, leading on computing which has helped me understand the needs of different year groups, including EYFS and allowed me to help implement whole school change.

This year, Sheringham has continued to push me offering me the role of Year 6 Facilitator. This has helped me further my understanding of the Year 6 expectations as well as working with other leaders within the trust. This is providing me with skills and knowledge which will continue to help me as I progress in my career.
