Our School Direct training will consist of a combination of input from our provider and placement within individual schools.
Trainees will have the opportunity to work alongside outstanding practitioners who have a total commitment to teacher training and development. In all of the Trust schools, there are a number of staff who are experienced mentors for those who are training to teach. There are also opportunities for reception placements and specialist provision if required.

We believe that all teachers have the potential to become outstanding practitioners and that this happens through the development of a real understanding of the pedagogy that makes the greatest impact on pupil learning.

Newham is a multicultural community with high levels of deprivation and individuals with EAL.  Recently developed as part of the 2012 Olympics, Newham is a vibrant and bustling area of East London with excellent transport links in and out of the city.

About the training programme:

School Direct offers a school-based learning approach which gives candidates the opportunity to work in class with experienced teachers.  Successful applicants will be based in school and receive support from mentors and class teachers.  A staggered teaching approach is adopted with the aim that, as the academic year moves on, the percentage of teaching and class responsibility increases.  Towards the end of the programme, most trainees will have full class responsibility.
As well as school-based learning, there are additional days of training in Essex in the training facilities attached to Essex and Thames SCITT.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for ambition and highly motivated individuals who are willing to demonstrate a growth mindset. Learning from others, accepting critical analysis, and responding to feedback is necessary. As we encourage our children to be reflective learners, who show resilience in learning, we expect the same from our teachers. Candidates should be sociable and able to work in a large team with ranging experiences and expertise.
