The Sheringham Eco Committee
School Councillors were very keen to develop a focus on environmental issues, and so the Eco Committee was born!
They researched how to create an eco committee, watching videos and finding out how other schools run theirs. Interested members of the school council then ran campaigns to be voted in - they even made speeches to the rest of the School Council!
Here are the elected committee members:
Rayhana Mohamed 6MC
Aribah Sameen 5S
Tasnia Rahman 4N
Maha Aziz 2H
Mally Ajanaku-Joseph 1B,
Supported by Ms Gray
Once established, the committee then followed the seven steps on the Eco Schools website - take a look at them here to find out more!
The Eco committee was set up to identify what areas our school needs to improve on and to set out some clear, precise steps to achieve these goals. To do this, the children completed an Environmental Review of the school to find out which areas the school needs to work on.
The children interviewed members of the school, including teachers, children and our office team, to gain information about how the school currently runs. This helped them to plan 3 actions to make our school more environmentally friendly.
Watch this space to find out about these actions and the committee's progress!
